Industry Information Sessions and RTO Professional Development Workshops

For the first time in Australia there are national qualifications for the Dance industry!

Background

In June 2011 a new training package for the cultural industries was endorsed – the Live Performance Training Package (CUA11). The first qualifications cover dance performance, dance teaching and management and cross sector qualifications in community dance and theatre, musical theatre and community culture.

IBSA in conjunction with C & L Communications Consultants are running Industry Information Sessions and RTO Professional Development Workshops, in selected capital cities and via webinar/teleconference.

Facilitator

Linda Marson from C & L Communications Consultants will facilitate the session. Linda was the primary consultant responsible for developing the qualifications and writing the units of competency. She brings to the session detailed knowledge of the rationale for the structure and content of the training package.

Linda has a wealth of experience in the vocational education and training (VET) sector with specialist expertise in the arts, media and entertainment industries. She first became involved in training in the community broadcasting sector in the 1980s and was instrumental in the establishment of the first industry skills advisory body for the arts and entertainment industry in Victoria. After five years as Executive Officer of Arts Training Victoria, Linda set up her own consultancy practice. An impressive list of clients includes Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA), Skills Hub, CREATE Australia, TAFE NSW, the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, Global Vision Media, VETASSESS and the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Projects have included the review of training packages in the cultural industries, the development of resources to support training package qualifications, and facilitation of workshops to determine industry trends and training needs.

Linda has facilitated professional development workshops for the Music Training Package (CUS09) and the Screen and Media Training Package (CUF07). In 2010, 98% of participants at CUS09 workshops in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane rated workshop content as either relevant or highly relevant, with 55% rating content as highly relevant.

Audience

The workshop has been designed to assist RTOs who currently offer accredited courses to make the transition to national qualifications or skill sets. Teachers and those responsible for ensuring their RTO complies with AQTF requirements will find the workshop useful.
