The Digital Switchover Taskforce has introduced an endorsement scheme for antenna installers. Antenna installers wishing to become endorsed can register and have their skills and knowledge assessed online against industry-identified minimum standards. These standards are aligned to nationally recognised units of competency drawn from Certificates II and III in Telecommunications Digital Reception Technology from the ICT02 Telecommunications Training Package v3.0 and ICT10 Integrated Telecommunications Training Package v1.0. Installers with accredited qualifications covering the stipulated units of competency will not need to be assessed.
IBSA in association with the Digital Switchover Taskforce has the Learner Resources that cover the antenna installer program available for free download. These resources that meet the outcome of the Digital Reception Technology units of competency for ICT02 Telecommunications Training Package and the DRT Antenna installers program can be accessed below.
The antenna installer skill sets
The units of competency that form the Skill Sets for antenna installers are drawn from the Certificate II and III in Telecommunications Digital Reception Technology, which are part of the endorsed ICT02 Telecommunications Training Package v3.0 and the endorsed ICT10 Integrated Telecommunications Training Package v1.0.
The six units that form the basic level (domestic installations) skill set are drawn from both certificates, while the units that form the advanced level skill sets (three units and one unit respectively for commercial and satellite installations) are drawn only from the Certificate III. The basic level skill set is a pre-requisite to the advanced levels.
