- IBSA is one of the major partners of Creativity Australia’s inaugural 2010 Creative Innovation: nurturing ideas, inspiring minds, creating futures, a two day event to be held annually in September with delegates and speakers from around Australia and internationally. Creative Innovation was officially launched on 20 April with an overview of Creative Innovation 2010’s program of world changing innovators, futurists, inspired thinkers and other interested stakeholders gathering in an interactive community
- IBSA, with AHRI, the Society for Knowledge Economics and the UK Commission for Employment and Skills is a member of the Skills Australia Workforce Development Conference planning committee for the conference to be held in September 2010. ISCs, industry and professional organisations, corporate leaders and education and training practitioners will participate in a range of conference activities

IBSA’s applied research projects provide the necessary knowledge and data to assist in developing new training and workforce development products and services. Fostering Enterprise Innovation - IBSA has completed research to provide enterprises with more information on the key factors that influence innovation in the workplace and the roles of government, business leaders and service providers. The research, undertaken by Prof Victor Callan of the University of Queensland’s Business School, also identified strategies that support effective collaboration for innovation and investigated mechanisms for developing and providing resources for organisations, including the enhancement of networking and mentoring opportunities. The report and an executive summary will shortly be available on the IBSA website.
IBSA Workforce Capability Tool development - With support from DEEWR’s Workforce Innovation Program, IBSA, in partnership with the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI), is converting the paper-based IBSA Workforce Capability Tool into an online tool and developing linked advisory material to provide users with information on the options available to develop innovation capabilities. The expert consultant iedex is developing the software which will provide an additional useful tool to guide organisations toward workforce development options for building innovation capability. A National Project Reference Group is providing the project with valuable input and ideas for enterprises wishing to participate in the trialling of the online tool. Management and leadership practices in Australia - The research focuses on the lessons from the Karpin research into leadership and management capabilities of Australian managers, with the additional perspectives of the growing importance of Corporate Social Responsibility, Productivity and the Australian Cultural Imprint for Leadership report. The report will signal areas of change needed in the current suite of management and leadership qualifications. IBSA will be engaging a consultant to undertake the research and a working party has been established representing key areas in Leadership and Development across a range of industry sectors. For more details of all projects: http://www.ibsa.org.au/training-packages.aspx ^Top Printing and Graphic Arts The revised Printing and Graphic Arts Training Package ICP10 was endorsed on 5 April 2010 and will shortly be available on the National Training Information Service website www.ntis.gov.au as well as on the IBSA website www.ibsa.org.au. It includes a range of new digital printing competencies: a Certificate II in Printing and Graphic Arts (Digital Printing) and a Certificate III in Printing and Graphic Arts (Digital Printing). Digital printing competencies have also been included as electives in the Certificate III in Printing and Graphic Arts (Printing). Environmental sustainability competencies have been incorporated as a core component in every qualification and competitive manufacturing competencies are included as electives. IBSA will be running information sessions for industry and Professional Development workshops for Registered Training Organisations in the near future. The project has three principal outcomes: to reflect the current review of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, to endorse the newly developed graduate programs in Language, Literacy and Numeracy, and to bring together other qualifications currently in the Business Services Training Package, that more appropriately reside in a training package focused on development for VET professionals. The review begins with a Discussion Paper which provides VET practitioners the opportunity to provide feedback up to 31 May 2010. IBSA will establish a National Project Reference Group and hold a series of focus groups to inform the review. Draft Qualifications have been validated. The draft units and qualifications were put together in partnership with Expert Working Groups for the sub sectors of the Financial Services Industry, the National TAFE Accounting Network and other key industry stakeholders. The reviewed Training Package is due to be submitted to the National Quality Council for endorsement by the end of May 2010. The review will identify whether the OHS qualifications and units sufficiently address industry’s requirements while also supporting regulatory arrangements at a national level, including current national developments associated with the harmonising of OHS regulatory requirements. Draft units are currently being developed and will be refined through industry and training provider feedback by July 2010. It is anticipated that the final qualifications and skill sets will be submitted to the NQC by September 2010. The matters raised in the paper and discussions were around the broader issues and challenges for the project, the context for each proposed new qualification, and the context for the ‘fitness for purpose’ of the existing Training Package with some key questions for users of the units and qualifications.
