Printing and Graphic Arts Training Package endorsed
22 July 2005
The Printing and Graphic Arts Training Package ICP05 was
today endorsed by the National Training Quality Council.
Endorsement follows a significant review process which
involved wide-ranging consultation with industry and training organisations
across Australia.
"In reviewing the Printing and Graphic Arts Training
Package, IBSA recognised a need for the industry to employ a techno-savvy
workforce with adaptable skills to meet new demands from customers. The Training
Package has been designed to cater for new and emerging technologies and
addresses current and future needs for formal qualifications," said Sharon
Coates, Chief Executive Officer of IBSA.
The Training Package will mean access to nationally
recognised skills and qualifications for people working in the printing and
graphic arts industry.
The new Training Package contains 34 qualifications,
from Certificate II to Advanced Diploma. It has a focus on flexibility and
encapsulates the need of enterprises to have a selection of competencies across
business, design and technology.
The Training Package has a focus on general workforce
skills and requires the completion of three key underpinning skills to enable
the successful attainment of individual qualifications. This supporting
knowledge relates to workplace communication, workplace safety/OHS and the
implementation of quality standards.
Qualifications in the Printing and Graphic Arts Training
Package which cover both general and specialist areas include:
- Printing and graphic arts;
- Graphic media;
- Printing;
- Converting, binding and finishing;
- Sacks and bags;
- Mail house;
- Cartons and corrugating;
- Ink manufacture; and
- Management/sales.
IBSA is responsible for the nationally endorsed Printing
and Graphic Arts Training Package ICP05. A Training Package is a nationally
endorsed and recognised set of integrated components for training and assessment
for a specific industry, industry sector or enterprise that can be used for
