Portfolio of Responsibilities
In accordance with its funding
agreement with the Australian Government, IBSA has a responsibility to deliver against the
following five performance objectives:
Effective governance
Quality corporate governance and effective management of the Industry Skills
Council, including ensuring business leadership as well as reflecting input of
other stakeholders. Representation and rules of operation of advisory
committees will not exclude industry stakeholders through membership and
representation categories.
High quality training products
Products that meet industry and VET system expectations and achieve progress
against Training Package national priority areas identified by DEST - in
particular rationalisation of the number of Training Packages, qualifications
and units of competency; incorporation of employability skills; development of
cross-industry competencies and supporting options for accelerated achievement
of competencies and qualifications.
Implementation of training products
Including consultation with training providers, equity groups and other
intermediaries such as NACs and GTOs, support for RTOs seeking to deliver and
customise Training Packages, and strong links with the National Training Quality
Council and its successor.
Industry recognition
Including strong engagement with small, medium and large enterprises and
State and Territory training advisory bodies.
Innovation and ISC leadership
An effective ISC that engages with national developments; brokers solutions
to problems; addresses leading edge developments in Australia and
Internationally; addresses skill shortages; and incorporates innovation.
