Minister visits Workplace English Language & Literacy project in South Australia
A new WELL project in SA was the site for a recent visit by Minister for Employment Participation, Brendan O’Connor. The WELL Program, part of the Australian Government’s Skilling Australia for the Future initiative, is financed by the Australian government, and assists organisations to train workers in English language, literacy and numeracy skills linked to job-related workplace training. It is designed to help workers meet their current and future employment and training needs. IBSA provides leadership in workplace language and literacy strategies through convening the Industry Skills Councils’ WELL Forum which provides all ISCs with the opportunity to build their knowledge of workplace literacy and numeracy issues and to incorporate this knowledge into their work.
The SA project is for apprentices and combines English language literacy and numeracy training – including information and communication technology – with vocational education and training.
