Opportunity for RTOs: New Qualifications for Job-seeker Training Through Productivity Places Program
Under the Productivity Places Program (PPP), DEEWR is seeking expressions of interest from Registered Training Organisations to deliver training in additional qualifications for job seekers ranging from Certificates II to Diplomas (the policy allows for qualifications up to Diploma level as part of the Program).
From IBSA industries’ viewpoint there are a number of additional qualifications from the 01 April release, and a number that have been ignored, despite strongly validated demand from industry and enterprises. The major omissions in the IBSA industries’ qualifications that are established areas of skills need - or underpin skills needs occupations - are general business, project management and critical games development, small business and innovation skills. IBSA will continue pursue access to critical skills training through PPP on behalf of our industry stakeholders.
Below is a summary of qualifications/occupations that have been included and those that have been excluded and will require further discussions with the department:
Access has improved to financial services, IT and telecommunications:
- various Certificates II, III, IV and Diplomas in Financial Services and Accounts Clerical, Bookkeeping and Accounting
- Certificate IV and Diploma in Information Technology (General)
- Certificate IV an Diploma in Human Resources
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- Certificates III and IV and Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and
- Certificates IV and Diplomas in Screen and Media, Project Management and Broadcast Technology.
What's been left off the DEEWR qualifications list:
- all new media, design and special effects qualifications
- all small business and innovation qualifications
- the Diploma of Project Management
- all live theatre production qualifications
- all Frontline Management qualifications and the Diploma of Training and Assessment
- all general Business Administration qualifications, and
- all Library Technician, knowledge management and related innovation qualifications.
