New publication from NCVER: Inter-firm cooperation in training
The NCVER has just released research that reinforces the benefits of cooperation in industry around vocational education and training.
In their research based on a survey of 600 firms in five manufacturing industries, Richard Cooney and Michael Long investigate cooperation among firms in the provision of training and the benefits that accrue to those business from the cooperative relationships. The authors explore various aspects of cooperation in these industries and identify both the policy implications of such training arrangements for the VET sector, and the potentially significant role that the VET sector has in contributing to inter-company cooperation in training. It is noted that the VET sector currently has only a marginal involvement in cooperative training arrangements, and to expand this role, training providers need to develop networks within the business community, particularly arrangements capable of meeting the needs of a cluster of firms.
