Review of the Music Training Package (CUS01)
Phase One of the review of the CUS01 Music Training Package was completed in September 2005. This involved research into issues around the content of units and the structure of qualifications. The views of industry and RTOs around Australia were widely canvassed at that time. Based on recommendations in the Phase One report, work commenced on the second phase of the review in early 2006. This involved revising all units, writing new units to address content gaps and restructuring qualifications. The project was suspended in November 2007.
Phase Two of the review is nearing completion (see timeline below). The outcome of work undertaken prior to the suspension of the project has been taken fully into account, in particular discussion and debate around the structure of qualifications. A National Project Reference Group (NPRG) with representatives from industry, RTOs and State Training Agencies has been established to oversee the management of the project, which includes ensuring that industry and training providers are fully engaged in the review process. The NPRG is chaired by Dr Helen Lancaster representing the Music Council of Australia.
