TAA04 Learning Material

Each Learner Guide has the following sections.

Introduction

This summarises information covered in the unit of competency, provides tips for what to do before you begin and explains the icons used.

Assessment

This outlines the assessment requirements in the relevant unit of competency and provides suggested assessment activities and requirements.

Note: This section does not necessarily set out the complete assessment requirements for the unit of competency. The participant needs to clarify their assessment requirements with your facilitator or assessor.

Learning Topics

Each Learning Topic includes information and activities to help you develop and apply the skills and knowledge required by the unit of competency.

The Learning Topics usually relate closely to the elements of competency in the particular unit and each Learning Topic includes:

  • Learning activities to help you apply the knowledge and skills. Your facilitator may change these activities or encourage you to change them so they apply to your particular learning context. Choose relevant activities with assistance from your facilitator.
  • Assessment activities-some of the learning activities can be used to generate evidence for assessment. Look for the assessment evidence icon to locate assessment activities.
  • Case studies and 'snippets', which illustrate particular points and can be used as a basis for analysis or discussion. You or your facilitator can contextualise these to meet your particular needs.
  • Sources of further information-because the Internet provides a valuable tool, you will often be directed to information on websites. Given that these inevitably change, check the links. Look for the resources icon for further information sources.
  • Questions for you to consider in reflecting on your practice-you could use these questions for discussion in a group face-to-face or via web-based technology, or in discussion with a facilitator over the telephone or through email. Look for the reflection questions icon.

Resources

This identifies useful resources and materials (some of which might be listed elsewhere in the Learner Guide).

Appendices

These are included in some Learner Guides to help in training and assessment activities and will be useful once you start training and assessing others.
The Appendices include sample templates that can be used or adjusted to meet your needs.
