A Registered Training Organisation (RTO) is an  organisation that is nationally recognised that provides vocational education and training.   The training results in qualifications and statements of attainment, which are recognised and acceptance by industry, other educational institutions and RTOs throughout Australia.  

Registered training organisations can be State and Territory government or privately owned.  To become a registered training organisation, the organisation must:

  • apply to the appropriate State or Territory registering authority
  • demonstrate compliance with the nationally agreed standards set out in the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF 2007).
